Levine Family

My maternal grandfather was Harry (Hirshel) Levine. He was supposedly born en route from England to Canada. On 6/30/2009, I found his ship passenger manifest. On the Lake Ontario, sailing from Liverpool to Quebec is the Lewin family (indexed as Levin on Ancestry.ca). There is Isaac, 23, a tailor, Sarah, 26, Thars or something that looks like Thars, an infant under 1 year, and Fillet, or something that looks like Fillet, age 3. “Fillet” is obviously Philip. The ship arrived on July 20, 1900.

Fishel's sister, Sasha Toyba “Sophie Gordon” married Abraham Jacob Gordon of Odelsk and from a grandchild I received a copy of their Ketubah (marriage contract). Abraham Jacob Gordon d. 1925. Children were Sara (married Westerman), Sam, Louis (n.i.) and Bessie. Bessie d. 1983. Sara’s daughters are Rhoda Westerman and Phyllis Unknown. I received a copy of the ketubah of Sophie Gordon, which listed her father and paternal grandfather’s names.
